CTC-VIS
CTC-VIS: CARB's Clean Truck Check reporting system
CTC-VIS (the Clean Truck Check Vehicle Inspection System) is CARB's official database for the program. Fleet accounts, vehicle records, annual compliance fees, and every submitted emissions test live there — it is the system of record for whether a truck is compliant.
What fleets do in CTC-VIS
- Create a fleet account and add every vehicle by VIN
- Pay the annual compliance fee for each vehicle
- Confirm reported test results and compliance status
- Update vehicle records when units are sold, retired, or added
What testers do in CTC-VIS
Credentialed testers submit OBD or opacity results against the VIN. Until that submission lands, a passing test in your shop's paperwork does not make the vehicle compliant with CARB.
Why you still keep your own records
CTC-VIS tells you the state's view of a VIN. It does not schedule your shop's work, remind you 90 days out, hold the photos from an opacity inspection, or bill the customer. That operational layer is what CTC Tracker provides — and it always defers to CTC-VIS as the authority.
Keeping the two in sync
- Mark each logged test as submitted once it is uploaded
- Record the annual fee payment date per vehicle
- Re-check status in CTC-VIS after any failed test and retest
